Dom + Roland – Hunter – Lost In The Moment – DRP – 2020

Impossible tune! It is a lucky escape that I did not hear it unheard on the dance floor. Because I would have been hospitalised fo’ su’. Impossible tune…

– But isn’t Dom + Roland one of your favourite artists, right?
– That is correct. But this is different: J. Majik, Doc, Digital, Decoder, Dilinja, Photek and many others can all hold their own ground.

This track? It can be the best… ever. That is something that you never ever think or speak off.

– Why? It is not culture. You never ever say or think that. The best track ever…

And yet, now I am uncertain. Is this actually the best drum’n’bass track ever produced? Among all? Ever? Ever never?

It is Dom. The best track ever? It is troublesome to me.

I Think That I

No. There is nothing better. I don’t care what you think that you did hear. “Decorder” on Hardleaders? That’s it. I went to Uppsala to listen to it.

What? No, that’s it. No discussion. No arguments. No, “I feel that”. Pure f*****g breaks! Either you like it or you don’t. No considerations. These are the breaks.

Arovane, Icol Diston [din – AROVANE2, 1998]

arovane_2Sweet, sweet music on this excellent 12″ on din and produced by Arovane. “Icol Diston” was released in 1998 on the influential din imprint. It starts off with a 18 second intro before the crown “yua:e” moves into full effect, relentlessly pushing forward by the driving beats and the sonic structures, pure bliss, together with the patented Arovanian melodic elements. Play it over and over again and it only gets better. Slightly more sinister feeling to the third and last track on the first side, a lot of atmosphere alongside beats of the glitcher persuasion. The flip side gives you two strong tracks “” and “” more crunchy beats, superb melodies and beautiful sounds. It’s simply put classic Arovane stuff with ample of atmosphere. And the second track with glitcher beats and melody played on some little child’s long forgotten toy instrument. Simply lovely! It is not to late to get the 12″ so act now, get it today! Apparently there’s also a CD containing the three first Arovane singles on din, (the one currently being reviewed being the second) this CD seems to be a more or less essential release, but unfortunately it’s kind of hard to come by these days.
