Not Even…

September 11th, 2020 Comments off

The little black bear was recently stolen, at Götgatsbacken on the 27th of August! Now I haven’t even got the pedals left. Will be sorely missed (if not found), naturally I am looking everywhere, but that is a close to impossible task with very few or no prospects of any success what-so-ever*.

Cleanest City In The World?

September 5th, 2020 Comments off

It used to be and was known as an extremely clean city: Håll Sverige Rent.

The Foundation was founded in 1983 by the Swedish Environmental Protection Agency and the company Returpack. Its origins, however, is in the Keep Nature Tidy campaign that was launched in 1963 by the Swedish Society for Nature Conservation. The Foundation logotype was introduced at this time: the spruce forest reflected in a lake – a symbol for clean water and unspoiled nature.

However, that’s definitely not the case today. Unfortunately (it being my home town and all) there are so many things (maybe too many) that are not true about Stockholm any more.

There’s a lot to be said about this and I have many times before: history and education are key.

The “why” and the “what”. I was taught to throw my litter in a bin or keep it until one was found (which usually didn’t take that long). I was taught to bring all of my trash from the: park, woods, playing field, cinema, metro, bus, walkway, residential area, front door, school yard, table (not excluding my room) or any public area and bin it.

In order for it to be as I originally found it.

It is that the same principle applies to everything in my and any other society. As in a fundamental understanding of Democracy. There are: rights and obligations; individuality and equality; freedom and responsibility.

Point being? You need to learn these things and some one needs to teach you these things. Over, over and over again.

Not related. Yet, pictured again… D’où Je Viens XXVIII.

Yes, I almost forgot… the original observation was all of the garbage (æ) was behind the electrical cabinets. None of it was on the pavement or in the street. What you don’t see does not exist and/or will disappear. Kind of playing peek-a-boo with a small child. Now you see me, now you don’t.

That being said there are no litter bins to be seen for many meters, so maybe people in general like it tidy after all (if the trash is hidden and out-of-sight)?

I remember a long-forgotten myth, a mystical story about an equally mythical machine called the “Box”. Supposedly it was randomly generating “acid” noises (Roland 101, 303 and 808 sounds), opaque and shifting colours at the same time.

I have never ever saw one live, but then, much later someone told me that it was actually an existing tiny machine and that down at the Black Market three was one was in existence.

Called the box. I remember looking for one and seeking evidence of its existence. There’s a song called that. The “box” and there’s an excellent film called “Cube” No, it’s not called “The Cube”. It is in fact called “Cube”. Because wordings still matter. The only one to survive is…?

This is a different kind of machine. The Buddha Machine. I don’t own one and I never have. I think that I know someone who does. It’s a brilliant concept. Pure geniality, right there…

I Most Certainly Concur

It is easier if you know what it actually says… Phoenecia would know.

That would be my dear grandmother’s Latin dictionary… equipped with a Gothic typeface. It is a truly impossible read in the 21st century.

At one time there was an idea to make Latin a “neutral” official language in the EU. It did not pan out, so now we have broken “Hinglish” instead? A huge mistake according to me. What about Via Appia!? Coincidentally I have actually been to Brindisi (occurred to me just now).

Resurrecting Latin would have been über cool. The overall direction is wrong. Is it not? The notes are from the late 1920’s. I’m guessing 1927/28 or so… at the time a girl or possibly a very young woman.

OK. Enough with the dilly dally. Text reads: “Scientia Est Potentia” and that’s Latin to you and me.

Turtle Wax, Plastic Padding, Karlssons klister, RX lim and Biltema… would fix anything/everything in the early 70’s. Sitting on a quintessentially period 1970’s brown footstool. You betta’ believe that!

Ride Or Die!

August 27th, 2020 Comments off

Horrific crash on Hamngatan, Stockholm opposite the grand NK department store.

It hurts a lot on the right side of my body (right knee, elbow and arm, hip and shoulder badly bruised). The little black bear was not a fault this time either. Misjudged the curb stone… and a subsequent hard, hard, very hard landing.

The little black one is built like a tank and did not suffer any injuries, the rider however.. is quite sore. That’s double R (RR) to you, aka Ruff Rider or simply put Ride Or Die. When the pavement comes rushing towards you in a hurry it will hurt eventually…

However, even Swedes can be surprisingly helpful at times.

– Hur gick det?
– Det är OK. Men rör inte min cykel!
– Du har ingen hjälm?

– Comment c’était?
– C’est bon. Mais ne touchez pas à mon vélo!
– Vous n’avez pas de casque?

– How did it go?
– It is OK. But do not touch my bike!
– You do not have a helmet?

– Quomodo eam?
– Bene est. Nolite tangere cursus!
– Tu non galeam spem salutis?

As stated. It’s a Google translation. If you happen to know Swedish or any other language you will suffer an acute translation illness… and I’m hurting today.

What ever happened the instant before someone decided “- I’m not wearing these shoes no more this day/night!”. What happened after they were left behind? I always wonder…
