Vessel, Resist [Expanding Records – ECD21:05, 2005]

vessel_resistThe recently released album “Resist” sees Vessel’s return to Expanding in beat crunching mood and the album is in large parts an up-tempo affair. Vessel’s acute sense for melodies in combination with demonstrated abilities to create forward moving beats and bassline combinations. All cater for a fine collection of tracks fitting the dance-for-the-advanced category. In comparison with debut album “Dreaming in Pairs” released in 2003 on Expanding, Vessel shows a slightly rougher side. Having said that there are several moments of heartbreaking beauty as well like in “Resists’s” ending trio of tracks. Vessel’s cultivated his unique sound and has successfully given Expanding another fine album to release. A last note on the cover-art: the striking photograph on the cover has its origin in Norberg’s mighty concrete cube.
